In the year 1223 Saint Francis first made a reproduction of the manger of Bethlehem in order to show people the humble conditions and poverty in which the Christ Child was born. Just as then, when Mary and Josef were looking for an inn to stay at, when the ox and the ass were the witnesses to the Child lying on a bed of straw and hay – the same experience is here for you today in Bad Hindelang. In the Christmas Village an old stable has been converted to a nativity scene especially for this event. This unique nativity play has become one of the highlights of the Christmas Market experience. Amateur actors and live animals allow you to see and feel the birth of Jesus. The performance is supported by local musicians, yodelers and wind instruments.
